About the Explorer’s Log

Welcome to the Explorer’s Log!

The Explorer’s Log was created out of a desire to be able to track progress through Starfield, to log explored systems and planets, to keep track of ships and important inventory and save points of interest that were deemed important and of future interest and so on. When Starfield initially came out, there were many efforts to create logs, both physical and based on spreadsheets. I never found one that worked for how I play the game and my own plans to create a resource like it ended up on the shelf with so many other projects.

When the most recent update was announced, I decided to dust off my ideas and see if I could put them to use with the help of a bit of vibe coding and after some trial and error, the Explorer’s Log was born.

The Explorer’s Log is still a work in progress and still very much in a preview version. I still experiment with how the app functions and continued updates will come as I have time.

The Explorer’s Log is built with the intent that it can be used for other games as well, such as No Man’s Sky, Elite Dangerous, Red Dead Redemption 2, the Fallout series, Oblivion and upcoming games like Subnautica 2, as an example. Once I’m satisfied with the state of the app and that I’ve captured what I feel is important for Starfield tracking, I’ll move on to other games. Initially, this will be limited to the games I own myself.
